Sharing the Love

Ah I do love seeing my friends happy and motivated. After all, what is happiness and success if we can’t share it with each other?? One of the things I love most about Angie is her smile and the confidence she exudes.  Nothing says beauty like a strong confident woman! Ladies, check out her blog for some great daily pick-me-up fashion inspiration.

The Sartorialist – Intel Visual Life

“When I look at something, I don’t really think is that fashionable enough, is that ‘of the moment’ enough? I’m just reacting.”

Now this is an example of a man who truly lives through the moment. Scott says his challenge as an artists is to be able to create the most beautiful image he can in the most simple way he can. That’s an idea I can connect with. Intel followed The Sartorialist’s Scott Schuman around to produce a 7 minute short documentary to give us a behind the scenes peak into his story and inspiration. Scott shares photos from his Visual Life with 70,000 readers a day.

Oh You’re Trendy Huh?

I am slacking in Style posts …. mostly because my life is lacking of style at the moment, or more accurately lacking of a concern for it. I have been on this minimalist kick lately, which I’m really sinking into. (Stay tuned for lots more on that). I have always seen style as a great canvas for personal expression. I think my lack of concern for fashion right now has a lot to do with really sinking into my own skin. I think people can almost get addicted to trends, because they seem like an easy way to keep up with “the people” and “the cool.” Admittedly, I happen to like some things that become trendy, as most of us do. But it’s almost like being ahead of the trends becomes a way to fit in, but doesn’t it just distract you from finding your own sense of “style” or personality? I’m not trying to say BE DIFFERENT, I’m just saying…. be you. Trends are irrelevant.

Hm…. just something to think about.

If I Were A Boy…

Style Tips You Can Actually Follow

I know time is not something you want to put into your wardrobe. BUT the fact is, girls like a guy who can dress and carry himself with a little confidence. You can’t be stuck in college forever. Lucky for you, this is easier to attain than you think. Let’s lay it out head to toe…
1. Keep it simple
2. V-Necks over Crew – Keep it PG and skip the deep V, but a shallow V-Neck white tee is always classy, whatever you pair it with.
3. The Cardigan

4. Denim - Keep it Dark and Fitted * Note, I did not say ‘Skinny Jean’

5. The Pea Coat

6. Take a tip from Cudi and throw a hoodie underneath that jacket…

See?? That wasn’t so painful.

Let Go

No truer words have been spoken about the world of fashion. If you view style as a means of personal expression and communication of the self, it can not be belittled as an art form. And since when does art have rules?

Giorgio Armani said, “The difference between fashion and style is quality.” After all, fashions fade, but style is eternal. The importance of quality can be understood in all aspects of our lifestyle – from the friends we chose to the values we possess. And just like with style, the quality of person we are is in the details.

How does one attain such quality you might ask? Consistency. Quality is proven through consistency. Life is one habit after another. The trick is to create good habits.

See how I can go from fashion to the purpose of life just like that? You think it doesn’t relate but it does…

Check you out Willow!

9 year old Willow Smith showed up at the Karate Kid Movie premiere (supporting her oldest brother Jaden), looking fierrcer than Rihanna! Are those Hammer pants I see?? I must say, I wouldn’t rock the look, but kudos for the attitude, girl. And I am digging the hair.

Cyana TrendLand

The newspapered room is so cool. Cyana has such a beautiful diversity in her work. She also plays a lot with urban and rural setting, which I love. I featured one of her photos in an earlier post. Find more of her work on the Behance Network here or visit her website.
